Your information, plainly explained

What gbctrafficcontrol.com collects, why, who sees it, and what you can do about it.

The short version

No cookies

No advertising trackers, no Google Analytics, no Facebook pixel, no tracking you across other sites.

Never sold

We do not sell your information, and we do not share it for advertising.

Only what the job needs

A quote request goes to the GBC team so we can call you back. That is what it is for.

Yours to control

Ask to see, correct or delete what we hold, or switch off visit counting on your device below.

Who we are

This website is run by GBC General Barricade Company, LLC (“GBC”, “we”, “us”), 11106 Hollow Hook St, Austin, TX 78724. This policy covers the website at www.gbctrafficcontrol.com and its pages, including the staff-only GBC Fleet system described below. Work we do for you, contracts, and calls or emails outside the website are covered by your agreement with us and by law, not by this page.

What we collect

What you give us

If you send a quote request, we receive what you type: your name, phone number and/or email, and anything else you choose to add — company, type of work, start date, job location and project details. If you call or email us, we receive what you send. Please don’t put sensitive personal information (like Social Security, bank or health details) in the form; we don’t need it.

What is recorded automatically when you visit

  • Visit details — which pages you open, the date and time, the website that sent you (for example google.com) or a campaign tag on the link you followed, and whether you tapped a call, email or quote button.
  • Technical details — your IP address and your browser’s “user agent” (which tells us the type of device and browser). Staff see IP addresses shortened in our dashboard.
  • A random device number — a meaningless code saved in your browser’s local storage (not a cookie) so we can count visitors instead of page loads. It contains nothing about you and is never used on any other website. Your browser also keeps a note, for that visit only, so a reload isn’t counted twice.

When you send a quote request we also record your IP address and user agent with it, to stop spam and abuse. We do not collect precise location, and we do not buy information about you from anyone.

How we use it

  • To answer your quote request, plan the work and do the job.
  • To keep the site running and secure — for example, limiting how often one address can send the form.
  • To understand, in total, how the site is used: which pages are read, how people find us, and which buttons they use, so we can improve it.
  • To keep business records and meet legal, tax and insurance obligations, and to protect our rights.

We don’t use your information for automated decisions about you, and we don’t build profiles for advertising.

Who we share it with

We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for targeted or cross-site advertising. We share it only as follows:

  • GBC staff who handle quotes and jobs.
  • Service providers that run parts of the site for us and may use the information only to do so: Supabase (secure database in the United States where quote requests and visit records are kept); Google Workspace / Gmail (delivers the email that alerts our team to a new quote request); GitHub Pages (hosts the website — like any web host, it receives your IP address to deliver the pages); Google Fonts (serves the site’s typefaces, so your browser connects to Google, which receives your IP address); and ATX Nexus, the web developer that builds and maintains this site and its systems.
  • When the law requires it — to respond to a subpoena or court order, or to protect the safety, rights or property of GBC, our crews or the public.
  • If GBC is sold or merged, information may pass to the new owner, who must keep it under the same promises.

Text messages

If you give us a mobile number, we use it to contact you about your request or job. We only send you text messages if you have agreed to receive them. Reply STOP to stop texts at any time, or HELP for help. Message and data rates may apply.

No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging opt-in data and consent will not be shared with any third parties. This does not include the carriers and providers that deliver the messages.

How long we keep it

  • Visit records — including your IP address, browser details and the random device number — are deleted automatically after 2 months. Before that, each day is reduced to anonymous totals (for example, “40 visits to the home page from Google on phones”). Those totals contain nothing that identifies anyone, and we keep them to see how the site does over time.
  • Quote requests are kept as long as we need them to answer you, do the work, and keep the business, tax and legal records the law requires. The IP address and browser details recorded with a request, for spam control, are erased after 2 months.

You can ask us to delete your information sooner — see below.

How we protect it

The whole site uses encrypted connections (HTTPS). Quote requests and visit records sit in a locked database that the public website can add to but cannot read. Only named GBC staff can see them, each with a personal password, and every sign-in is logged. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach ever affected your personal information, we would notify you as Texas law requires.

Your choices and rights

See, correct or delete your information

You can ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask for a copy, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email alfredo@atxnexus.com with the subject “Privacy request”. This is the only address for privacy requests; they are handled for GBC by ATX Nexus, the company that runs this website. We may ask you to confirm details so we know the request is really yours. We will answer within 45 days, free of charge, and we will never treat you differently for asking. We honor these requests for everyone, wherever you live.

If we turn down your request, you can appeal by replying with the word “appeal”; we will answer within 60 days and explain why. If you are still not satisfied, you may contact the Texas Attorney General.

Stop visit counting on this device

If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track signal, this site does not record your visits at all. You can also switch it off by hand:

This is saved in this browser only. Clearing your browser data turns counting back on.

Email

We don’t send marketing emails. If we ever do, every one will include a way to unsubscribe.

GBC Fleet — our staff system

GBC Fleet, at gbctrafficcontrol.com/fleet/, is how our office and crews run trucks, jobs and equipment. Only GBC staff can use it: each person has their own account, confirms their email, and must be approved by the office. This section is for them.

Company vehicles

  • GBC trucks carry a tracker that reports the truck’s location, speed and direction about every 30 seconds whenever the truck has power — including outside working hours, so a stolen truck can be found. It also reports vehicle readings such as mileage, engine hours, fuel, battery and fault codes.
  • We use this to dispatch crews, keep people safe, maintain the trucks, confirm work for billing, recover stolen vehicles, and study the data to improve how we plan routes and run jobs. Office staff can view a truck’s current position and its travel history.
  • From the same data, Fleet builds driving summaries — distance, drive time, idling, and time above the company’s speed limit. Office staff see every truck; a driver sees their own.

The Fleet app on a phone

  • Drivers use company-owned phones for Fleet. They belong to GBC’s fleet, stay with the truck or at the yard, and are not taken home.
  • The app does not send the phone’s own location to GBC. Turn-by-turn directions are worked out on the phone, maps are served from our own site, and places typed into search stay on the phone.
  • While the driver screen is open, the office can see which screen is showing, the destination and the music queued, and can send directions, messages and songs to it. The office can lock these company phones to the app for hands-free driving; emergency calls always stay available. The office cannot see the phone’s camera, microphone, photos or files.
  • Music plays through Spotify. Drivers sign in on Spotify’s own page; GBC receives no Spotify account information.

Staff information

Fleet keeps each person’s name, username, email, role, and optionally a phone number and work certifications (such as flagger cards) with expiry dates. It also keeps job records, messages, and the photos crews add — photos are stripped of their hidden location data before upload — and a log of who changed what and from which signed-in device. The office can see when each account and device last signed in.

Where it is kept and who sees it

Fleet data is stored with our database provider, Supabase, and shown only to signed-in GBC staff according to their role. The app’s code library is delivered by jsDelivr, a content network that receives your IP address like any web host. Fleet uses no advertising or analytics tracking. Records are kept as long as they are needed to run the fleet and to meet safety, insurance, tax and legal obligations.

Staff can ask to see or correct the information Fleet holds about them by emailing alfredo@atxnexus.com.
